A couple weeks back I went to Palm Springs with my work crew. We stayed at the super lovely Westin Mission Hills in Rancho Mirage. Saturday, one of my work friends and I hit up this little place called Crystal Fantasy. I realize that this is not a place for everybody, but I enjoyed myself.
As we wandered about the store filled with crystals, books, and tarot cards we soon found ourselves in the back room. There were two ladies sitting next to massage tables and we asked what they did. Crystal Healing and Chakra Balancing. We consulted each other for a moment and it was decided, we were in.
I got set up with a sweet sprite like little lady named Holly. She was so soft spoken and radiated kindness, I immediately felt at ease with her. I laid back on her table and closed my eyes. She asked questions about my life, stress, things I'd like to work on. I told her anything she wanted to know (she just had that kind of presence). She placed assorted crystals on my person and swept her hands over me...it was a very relaxing experience and also hard to explain.
Afterwards, we talked a little and she gave me her card. I will for sure visit her again some time, and she let me know that I could contact her for a phone consultation anytime.
Like I said, it's hard to explain what happened. If you're open to that kind of experience...it can be kind of neat. I'm going to try and learn more about these types of healing alternatives.
Cheers all!

coachella from the beer garden
I can hardly believe it's time to start prepping for Coachella...but the blogs are getting busy so I will to. I read about "the 7 people who will be at Coachella this year" from Hello Giggles and suppose the writer hit on some main types, none of them were quite me. I like to think of myself as more of a laid back beer garden viewer...not because I'm a big drinker, but because I like the view, the shade and the access to food and drink and that it's not crazy crowded...usually.
Last year we watched Snoop and the Tupac hologram from way way back in the beer garden. No one was crowding us, we danced and cheered. We had a good view of the stage and the big screens. I have a feeling that's probably the best way to enjoy the Red Hot Chili Peppers this year. Other beer garden viewings have included Mumford and Sons and Coheed and Cambria...it's a good way to be if you don't need to be in the front of the stage (which I don't, that was what high school was for...and I don't miss pushing past a mosh pit either).

A few of the acts I'd be happy to see for the first time are:
Social Distortion...even though I heard that they are jerks backstage
Aesop Rock
Modest Mouse
Yeah Yeah Yeahs
Red Hot Chili Peppers
The Stone Roses...everyone seems to know them, apparently I'm missing out, I'll be adding them to my Pandora so that I get a little education
Tegan and Sara
Blur and New Order...even if I only know a few songs between the both of them
I've seen em before, but could check out again:
Dropkick Murphys
Franz Ferdinand
Descendents
Vampire Weekend
Beach House
Violent Femmes...saw them at a county fair, I still only know a few songs but whatevs
Band's whose names entertain me (who I will also be adding to Pandora)
Unicorn Kid
Tokoyo Ska Paradise Orchestra
Vintage Trouble
Thee Oh Sees
Anyone else headed to Coachella?
Who would you be excited to see?

pretty short little note
Just got back from a lovely (although at first very cold) weekend in Palm Springs/Coachella. Will totally write more about that later...but for now, I'm happy to be back and excited to go through my first beauty boxes which came while I was gone. My Glam bag came with an adorable little cosmetics bag (which I know I don't need, but I'm sure I'll find a use for). I also received my bag from The Look Store. So I'll report on those pretty little gifties soon too. ♥ ♥

pretty in Palm Springs
Coachella Weekend One!
My good friend has an email that she sends out per request to friends attending their first Coachella. She's been going for years and years and she is a total pro. I just read a blog entry regarding Coachella (see: broke girls guide: coachella survival kit ) and have decided to create my own.
- hat or parasol (provide yourself with shade, because the nice shady areas get crowded)
- sunscreen (kind of a given but whatev), I'm going to be putting on a Clarins progressive tanning sunscreen with spf 20 in the am and reapplying with a Hawaiian Tropic spf 30 later in the day.
- no blankets are allowed, but I'm bringing an old sarong to sit on (sometimes the grass is itchy), they recommend a small beach towel, but I think the sarong takes up less space.
- Wet Ones antibacterial hand wipes (for after the porta potty situation, before meals, and any other time that my hands may need it).
- speaking of porta potties, it doesn't hurt to bring a little tp with you (just in case)
- if you can get a locker, it's a good thing. You can stash your day stuff (hats, parasols) for the next day and leave jackets and such there for the day til they're needed. It's also a great spot to meet up at the end of the night.
I'm so excited for my weekend to begin!
