Fresh start February

Tomorrow is my first day of work at a new job.  I'm excited and nervous...like that last night of summer before going back to school.

Leaving my last job was harder than I thought.  I'd made good friends there, and will miss seeing them everyday.  The job itself was easy to walk away from: extreme hours, two time cards, having to run personal errands for the boss...bye bye!

I have needed to upgrade my work wardrobe rather quickly...and come to realize that I really do need to drop some pounds.  It seems I can squeeze myself (tightly) into a 12...but then 14s are baggy.  It would also be nice to lengthen my legs by an inch, inch and half...luckily I have a tailor that I use for my inseams.  I always seem to need my tailor to alter the length of my pants (in pants Short is too short and Regular is too long).  I'm just all kinds of in-betweens.

I also used this Super Bowl weekend to get my nails done and am so happy to announce that a brand new place has opened up right by my house. Score! They are affordable and oh so clean.  They even have you sign off that the items they're using are sterile.  I went with a nice simple purple/gray shade.

Keeping my fingers crossed that all goes smoothly tomorrow! Wish me well.

Cheers all!!

a week (or so) in the life

So, I gave online dating another shot...and even went on a date! Then we went out on another...then nothing. Still better than my last couple of online dating experiences though.  I also did that thing.  You know that crazy girl thing where you kind overly obsess about why that guy hasn't called you back and then you ask him about it (via text...so it turns out really long and embarrassingly pathetic).  He, being him...opts not to answer.  I have to say, after rereading what I wrote a half a dozen (dozen and a half) times...I probably wouldn't answer me back either.  Oh wells, it is what it is.  There are some guys in the Plenty of Cupids pool that I've abruptly quit interacting with - now I've been on the other side.  Lessons have been learned. I also completely deleted that guy from my phone so that I can go on about my day.

Shop small, shop local they say...so I tried. I went shopping the other day in hopes of finding a dress to wear to an upcoming Summer wedding.  There is an adorable little shop in La Verne (The Little Dress Shop).  Their Yelp review is here.  Unfortunately for me it really was a "little" dress shop...everything I liked was too small for me.  As in, didn't even get to try it on because it was all size small.  They had a few dresses in large, but by the time I found them I felt like an elephant.  Decent prices, a fun mix of new and vintage, and fun jewelry.  I picked up a pair of flowery bobby pins for $5.00.

Have you fancied up your water lately?  I did.  I've been mixing mint sprigs and lemon slices in a water bottle (let it set/"infuse" in the fridge overnight) and voila crisp refreshing water the next day! I also did a day with watermelon mint too...also pretty tasty.  They've got all sorts of ideas on Pinterest. Try searching "detox water", I don't know if it's so much of a detox, but it does change it up a bit.

That's my little check in! Hope all is well with you.

I'd always love to hear from you.
Cheers!

A Coachella style guide

Thinking back to past years, it's really a fashion show of sorts as much as a music festival.  As much as I enjoy the people watching a lot of my thought process comes down to "how long did that take to put together this morning?", "how on earth is that person going to use the port-a-potty?" and "my goodness, how are they not melting?".   The pic to the right, has me asking all these questions at once...
As usual, dressing for comfort and climate is pretty key (for a lot of us, but not everybody...clearly).  Breathable fabrics, layerable items,  and a bag for your necessities are all biggies for me.

Here are some of the looks I found out there on the almighty internet, and my thoughts:

Floppy hat and sunglasses yes.  Tank, sure. Mini and boots? I wouldn't recommend it, there's a lot of sitting on the ground and those boots may not be the most comfy for getting from stage to stage.  She's cute enough but I just don't feel like this would be comfy for a day of wandering in the sun.

I feel like both of these work.  Long dresses make for easy places to sit.  Both ladies have their layers for when there's a nip in the air. They both have bags for things like phones, ID, cash and hand sanitizer!

Too much work...but she's a celeb, and I have a feeling that port-a-potties aren't an issue back in VIP.

Kate Bosworth though, she gets it.

And then there's always the "REALLY?" group....
